COMMANDING OFFICER

Command Master Chief Petty Officer Asa Worcester enlisted in the Navy in 1993 immediately after graduating from Narraguagus High School.

Worcester completed Recruit Training Command, followed by Gunner’s Mate “A” school in Great Lakes, IL. Master Chief Worcester served in USS PORT ROYAL (CG-73), USS PAUL F. FOSTER (DD-964), USS ELROD (FFG-55), USS KAUFFMAN (FFG-59), USS DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER (CVN-69), a second tour on USS ELROD (FFG-55), and then USS JAMES E. WILLIAMS (DDG-95). While serving in PAUL F. FOSTER, he earned his Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist designation, and in USS DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER (CVN-69) he earned his Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist designation, was selected for advancement to Senior Chief Gunner’s Mate, and was selected to serve as USS ELROD’s Command Senior Chief, during which time he was selected for advancement to Master Chief. Worcester last served as the Joint Base Command Master Chief of Joint Base Charleston before coming to Southwest Regional Maintenance Center to serve as the Command Master Chief.

Master Chief Worcester served in two successful Instructor tours at Naval Gunnery School in Great Lakes, IL, from 1999 to 2002 as MK 13 Guided Missile Launching System Instructor and then from 2006 to 2009 as Center for Surface Combat Systems Unit, Great Lakes, Combat Systems “A” Schools Leading Chief Petty Officer.

Command Master Chief Worcester’s awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (five awards), Air Force Commendation Medal, Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medal (five awards), the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, Navy Rifle and Pistol Expert Medals, and various unit and campaign decorations.
